lose your ribbon-garter in the street for your beloved to find

@swanlaurences sorry my little x-kit kitten got in the way of your question lol! it’s nice to hear from you. I get so few questions these days, with all the shows I regularly post meta about either on hiatus or no longer compelling enough for me to engage with (and in that case that usually means I’ve stopped watching them bc I’m pissed about something…usually female character-related lol).
Good luck with that! I would rather not even try to fix the mess the show has made bc of all the gross ways they twisted george and elizabeth as characters to get there, but I support your endeavor. I prefer the AUs where none of that shit even happens, and thankfully @chocksawaychaps/ @letterfromtrenwith and @upstartpoodle (among other users maybe) have written plenty of those. I have sadly gotten behind on reading their well-written and lushly appointed stories and would like to catch up…I know I’ve said that many times; hopefully I have the time and emotional constitution to do that now, and revist my own fics for george and elizabeth, who I can only write about in contexts where they are both alive, happy, and together.
Castleboro house, Co. Wexford. It was burnt down by a group of armed men on the night of the 5th/6th of February 1923. In total seven ‘big houses’ were destroyed in Wexford during the course of the Civil War
wisht to god i could go back in time and see real georgian christmas fare.. little cakes made to look like swans, sugared plums and pears, jellies in pastel shades, desserts in little cut glass bowls.. fruit on silver platters
He would do anything to keep you. He’s wanted you from the moment he met you. I saw how he looked at you then. I never dreamed he stood a chance. Nor did he. Nor did I.
the moment where ross fell into a well and drowned to death and the whole village celebrated and george became the better person he was deep down under elizabeth’s influence and they all lived happily ever after!
but in all seriousness…it’s been so long since I thought of them bc it was honestly too painful to for a good long while. but they are very very dear to my heart. the best moment for them was the proposal, for sure…george baring his soul like that was astonishing and jack’s delivery and heida’s guarded but moved and sympathetic reaction were just gorgeous. still pisses me off they put ominous music in the background bc it didn’t fit the mood of the scene at all. and in the context of that depiction of his feelings, the wound-tending scene was even better. that was elizabeth deciding to try to understand him, and him allowing her to attend to his vulnerabilities, which he’s never ever let anyone else do. this relationship was deeply romantic without Debbie intending it to be thanks to the actors, especially Jack because of how he clearly saw George as a whole person rather than just a caricature. These two are happily married in my heart, always and forever. I will always love them and want the best for them.
